£1000 Raised for parkinson’s uk

Last Monday, P1 felt a little different.

The gym was still busy, sessions still running, people still getting stronger… but there was something extra in the air. A bit more conversation, a few more smiles, and a table at reception filled with homemade cakes and biscuits.

We held a bake sale to raise money for Parkinson’s UK, in memory of Abby’s dad, who sadly passed away just before Christmas after living with Parkinson’s.

It wasn’t meant to be a big, polished event. Just something simple. Something personal.

And that’s exactly what it became.

COMMUNITY EFFORT

Our members completely ran with it.

Cakes, brownies, biscuits… the table kept filling up throughout the morning. Some baked, some donated, some just turned up and made sure they didn’t leave without buying something (or three things).

Abby took on the role of “shopkeeper” at reception — happily chatting, serving, and probably underpricing a few cakes along the way.

It was one of those days where you’re reminded what P1 really is.

Not just a place to train.

But a group of people who genuinely care.

THE REASON IT MATTERED

Parkinson’s is something that affects millions of people and families, often quietly and over many years.

For Abby and her family, it’s been a huge part of their lives.

So this wasn’t just about raising money.

It was about doing something positive. Remembering. Giving back in a small way that felt right.

£1000 RAISED

By the end of the day, we’d raised £1,000.

Honestly, more than we expected.

But when you look back at the day, it makes sense — it wasn’t one big gesture, it was lots of small ones added together.

A few pounds here, a box of brownies there, someone staying a bit longer for a chat.

That’s how these things build.

THANK YOU

To everyone who baked, donated, bought, or just took a moment to be part of it — thank you.

It meant a lot to Abby, and it meant a lot to us as a team.

We’ll definitely do more like this in the future.

Because days like this remind us that what we’re building at P1 goes well beyond the gym floor.
